Chairman Badagry Divisional Football Association BDFA, Dr Martins Osondu has revealed his reasons he travelled to Abuja ahead of the Rising Stars Football League scheduled to kick off this month across five centres in Badagry division, Lagos.
96 teams are expected to feature in the league in conjunction with BDFA. The eventual winners would go home with the sum of N11 million naira while teams that would qualify for the round of 12 would be kitted and supported by the sponsor.
As part of preparation ahead of the league, Osondu and his executive members travelled to Abuja to meet the sponsor, The Rising Stars Football League management board and discussed how the league would be played without any challenge.
“I am currently in Abuja to discuss the modalities for the league and also look into logistics that may arise during the league. The meeting is necessary and important for the betterment of the participating teams.
“I am not in Abuja for a picnic but I am in the city to finalise every arrangement we and sponsor discussed in Lagos and I must confess that the meeting was fruitful. If there is anything we would still discuss before we return, i will let our participating teams know through your medium. Thanks for your support all the time,” he said.
Osondu admonished the participants to intensify their preparations saying that once he arrives in Lagos next week, he would announce the kick-off date.
“All the teams have known their opponents and they are waiting for the kick-off date. Immediately we returned to Lagos, we would fix a date and the league would commence.
“The league is knockout basis and there is a need for teams to prepare well because once a team are beaten is out. The round-robin league would begin when the league is round of 12. All the 12 teams would play league format to determine teams that emerge, overall winners,” he concluded.
