The National President of the Federal University of Technology Owerri Alumni Association (FUTOAA) Engr. Prof. Laz. Uzoechi has been re-elected for a second term as President of the Association.
Despite being an unopposed candidate, Prof. Uzoechi who once emerged as winner of the Best Research Award at Tennessee Technological University in 2011 polled 33 votes from the total number of 38 delegates who were accredited for the election to be returned.
The 38 delegates who were accredited and voted during the election were from 8 chapters of the association which are Abuja, Bayelsa, Enugu, Aba, Delta, Lagos, Port Harcourt and Owerri chapters.
The election, which took place after the Annual General Meeting of the Association on Saturday August 17,2025 at the Immaculate Excellence Hotel, in Owerri, also afforded him and his new executive to be sworn-in immediately as their three year tenure takes immediate effect.
Also re-elected on the same day are Engr. Obasi Chigozie (National Vice President), Engr. Inuaeyen Inuaeyen (National Secretary), Okonkwo Humphrey (National Assistant Secretary), Comrade Efe Fuludu (Financial Secretary), Chukwuemeka Ifeanyi (Internal Auditor), Okocha Bayson (Director of Socials), Ochulor Okebugwo (PRO) and Augustine Akagi (Provost).
Board of Trustee Members (BOT) were also elected with Engr. Chibuike Achigbu emerged as chairman of the Board with 32 votes. Others are Dr. Victor Ijeh(30 votes), Engr. Dr. Ajenakewe Samuel (30), Nwaneke Samuel Chukwemeka (30 votes), Kingsley A. Chikwendu (31 votes), Chinedu Okpareke (30 votes) and Engr. Innocent Ikpamezie (30 votes)
