Students of Wahab Folawiyo High School are still in sad mood following their junior and senior football teams suffered defeats in the finals of Ikoyi-Obalende Principal Cup Pre Season football tournament.
The Principal Cup Pre Season tournament whick kicked off two weeks ago ended on Friday as Wahab Folawiyo High School lost the finals to their opponents.
In the junior boys final Ikoyi Junior Government College defeated Wahab Folawiyo Junior High School 2-0, while Government Senior College, Maroko, defeated Wahab Folawiyo High School 4-3 on penalties after one goal apiece at the regulation time.
Some students of Wahab Folawiyo Schools left the match venue with annoyance while some of them blamed the team’s loss as a result of hard luck as others believe that they are not good enough to win the tournament.
Meanwhile in the junior girls category final, Falomo Junior Girls school lost 3-4 to Akande School, while Government College, Maroko defeated Falomo school 3-2 on penalty shootout after barren draw at the regulation time.
Match cordinator, Olayinka Shokoya expressed gratitude to God for the success of the competition but lamented lacked of sponsorship for the school football programme.
“I am happy that the competition ended well but i am not happy that those that promised us disappointed us.If we get sponsor,we would have organised a colourful closing ceremony,”he said.
