President Federation Cup: Lagos FA Set To Honour 80-Year-Old Billy Thanni With Lifetime Achievement Award

Lagos State Football Association is set to honour and celebrate former Stationery Stores star player, Biliaminu ‘Billy’ Thanni, with a LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT Award. 

According to Chairman of Lagos FA,  Hajji Gafar Liameed, the award is to recognise and celebrate the legendary player for his immense contributions to the development of football in Lagos State. 

“This award that also comes with a handsome cash prize, is instituted by the Lagos FA, as yearly event to honour old and living legends of the game. And this initiative is a part of the several initiatives of this board of Lagos FA, to encourage, promote and develop football in the state,” Hajji Liameed explained. 

Eighty-year-old Thanni, is the oldest living President Federation Cup winner. Known for his skills and fast pace, the diminutive winger won the cup,  formerly known as the National Challenge Cup in 1982, as Stationery Stores defeated Niger Tornadoes 4-1 in the final played inside the mainbowl of the National Stadium, Lagos.
