Head Coach of 36 Lion Football Club, Francis Akinshola Akinrele has expressed serious concern over his strikers for their inability to convert their scoring chances.
Akinrele disclosed this after his team played goalless draw with Otassolo Football Club in Multi Sport Pre Season Football Tournament which kicked off today at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena popularly known as Onikan Stadium.
Akinrele popularly known as Baba Arigo told our correspondent that his boys did not live up to expectations in an area of goal scoring noted that football of nowadays is about goal scoring.
“We had a good game but our problem is goal scoring. We had many scoring chances in the first half but my players failed to convert their chances. If we want to progress in this pre season, we need to score and if we fail to score, we might not reach the next round,”he said.
Asked if the team can progress from the group stage,Akinrele expressed confidence that his team would go far in the tournament but noted that he needs to work on the team’s goal scoring before their next game.
“If we can convert our chances very well, honestly I see my team progress to the next stage but if we don’t convert our chances we might have problem in qualification.I have a team that can defend well, creating many scoring chances so it is now left for our strikers to take their chances,”he said.
