The excitement could be seen in the faces of the children from the orphanage homes in Lagos at the finale of the 2024 edition of Kidsport Charity Cup at the Campos Mini Stadium on Lagos Island on Wednesday, 18 December.
This has been an annual football event to bring together kids from orphanage homes, football academies, and secondary schools in Lagos State to compete in a variety of sports.
“The event aims to help kids discover their talents and bring them to the forefront,” said the convener, Mrs Bukola Alabi who has not been relenting in making sure these less privileged children have a sense of belonging in the society.
With guests who included Her Regal Majesty, Ambassador Dr Temitope Enitan-Ogunwusi, the Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Social Development in Lagos State, Mr Mobolaji Ogunlende, Nigerian international footballer, Joshua Akpudje, Mrs Eno Essien, CEO of Rheytrack, Ms Oluwafunmike Salami, Founder of Funmike E. Foundation and a host of others, the competition sponsored by the KingMakers lived up to its expectations with the SOS, Isolo winning the star prize of N1 million in the orphanage category of the competition.
