The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has launched a Centre of Excellence in Abuja to provide Nigerians with technical and vocational skills to support the digital economy.
Nokia is powering the NCC’s Centre of Excellence.
The Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani who declared open the centre said: “I expect that the NCC will collaborate with more stakeholders to make this initiative a true centre of excellence for Africa. No society in the world can prosper without connectivity. The connectivity requires humans for its proper functioning”.
The Executive Vice Chairman of the NCC, Dr Aminu Maida, while speaking at the event noted that “This is the first time in Nigeria when our radio engineers will have the opportunity to come and touch and feel what a radio looks like”.
He also said that with the 5G era and the skills that engineers and other Nigerians will acquire, “we would see a lot of innovations through this Centre”.
