The ongoing Peace Cup which is taking place at the Akinola football pitch in Aboru, Alimosho, Lagos has reached the crucial stage.
The annual tournament group stage would be concluded this weekend to determine which team qualify for the quarter final stage.
Among the teams that are already qualified for the quarter final stage are Ottasolo FC, Shuffle Select FC, Fadob FC and Future Hero FC.
Three matches have been lined up for today according to the fixtures released by the organisers, Stotech FC face Crown Stars, Young Elite battle Future Image as Tridal tackle B Platinum FC.
On Sunday, Sunday Morning All Stars football team would face Godly FC in the last group stage.
The quarter final matches would hold on Sunday afternoon as Ottasolo tackle Shuffle Select by 3:20pm as Fadob FC face Future Hero by 4:30pm.
Chairman Organising Committee, Dr Kolade Kolapo has expressed satisfaction with the performance of the participants and urged the fans to continue showing spirit of sportmanship throughout the tournament.
“I am happy that this year’s edition has lived up to expectations in terms of officiating, fans attendance and standard of the game by the participating teams.I am using this medium to urge our fans to continue supporting us and shun vices that can tarnish the image of the competition,”he said.
Meanwhile the organisers of the Peace Cup are celebrating with the tournament cordinator, Gift Anderson on the occasion of his birthday anniversary.
In a congratulatory message, Kolapo described the birthday celebrant,an hardworking person who has committed to the success of the competition in the last three years.
“On behalf of the Organising Committee of Peace Cup, we express our wishes to the birthday celebrant and wish him long life and prosperity in years to come. We appreciate his effort in the Peace Cup, and we are using this medium to say Happy Birthday and many years in return,” he said.
