The African Democratic Congress (ADC), Osun State Chapter, has declared that the recent defection of the former Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Moshood Adeoti, did not affect the party in any way, saying that Adeoti did not decamp to his new party with any member of the party including State, Local Government, or Ward Party Executives.
The party also disclosed that Mr. Adeoti decamped with only members of his group, describing his defection to the Accord Party as ill-advised, parochial, and unfortunate.
In a press statement signed by the State Chairman of ADC, Dr. Charles Idowu Omidiji, and made available to journalists on Thursday, the party dismissed insinuations that Adeoti left with members of the ADC.
The statement declared that he moved to Accord “like a cathedral without a single congregation.”
According to the chairman, rumours that ADC State, Local or Ward Executives collaborated with Adeoti in his negotiations and eventual defection to Accord Party are baseless and unfounded, describing such claims as a mere “mirage” intended to mislead the public.
The statement, which conveyed a communiqué issued after an extended meeting of state, local government, and ward executives of the party, reaffirmed the party’s unwavering support for its governorship candidate, Rt. Hon. Najeem Salaam, popularly known as “Iwaloye.”
The ADC expressed strong confidence in Salaam’s leadership capacity, maintaining that the party remains united, focused, and strategically positioned for success in the 2026 governorship election.
“We want the public to understand that we, the ADC members, stand unshakable in our commitment,” the statement read. “We are solidly behind Rt. Hon. Najeem Salaam, and we believe that victory is not only possible but certain in the forthcoming governorship election.”
As the political landscape continues to evolve, the Osun State ADC said it remains committed to mobilising its grassroots base and promoting policies that resonate with the electorate.
The party called on its members and the general public to stay informed and remain steadfast as preparations intensify ahead of August 8,2026 governorship election by ensuring that ADC coasted home with electoral victory
In conclusion, the ADC urged constituents across Osun State to rally behind its candidate and look forward to a campaign anchored on integrity, unity, and the collective interests of the people.
