Orile Agege LCDA To Sponsor ‘Fight For Asiwaju 2027’ Boxing Championship

No fewer than 100 boxers reside in Orile-Agege,Lagos will compete for a sum of N2millon naira as a prize money in the forthcoming ‘Fight for Asiwaju 2027’ Boxing Championship holding in Orile Agege Local Council Development Secretarial Indoor Hall from March 31 to April 3, 2026

The three days event which is being organised by the Orile Agege LCDA Sports Committee in conjunction with Lagos State Boxing Association would feature ten categories in both male and female boxers.

Speaking at the press conference heralding the championship on Friday,Executive Chairman, Orile Agege LCDA, Honorable Akinola Idowu commended the sports committee for their commitment to the grassroots sports development in Orile-Agege saying that Fight For Asiwaju Championship would be an avenue for the boxers in Agege to showcase their talents and come to the limelight.

He revealed that Fight For Asiwaju Boxing Championship is also sponsored by his council as a way of galvanising votes for President Asiwaju Bola Tinubu ahead of next year’s presidential elections.

“We are happy to sponsor this Fight For Asiwaju Boxing Championship and recently we just concluded Run For Asiwaju mini marathon race and we are doing this to empower our youths in Orile-Agege through sports and particularly to campaign for our president for his reelection in next year’s presidential election,”he said.

The LCDA boss mentioned the vital role of sports in shaping the youth and ensure brighter future for talents, adding that council will collaborate with the key stakeholders and private organizations to drive various sports initiatives during his administration.

Speaking in the same vein, Chairman of Orile Agege LCDA Sports Committee, Dipo Liadi reaffirmed the commitment of the organizers to empower the youths and enhance sports development in the council.

Liadi however praised the LCDA Council boss for his unwavering support, vision, and commitment to grassroots sports development, noting that the event marks another promising initiatives geared towards youth empowerment and community engagement.
