In a bid to make this year big and better, organisers of the annual Harmony Football Tournament in Lagos had rebranded the tournament and tagged it ‘Jameria Harmony Football tournament’
The rebranding was done and representing an historic collaboration between Jamaica and Nigeria, combining their rich football traditions into a unified and electrifying tournament to be called “Jameira”.
The 2025 edition is proudly sponsored by Tharmm Equest, the UK’s premier Black Entertainment company.
The UK based sponsor has concluded plans to make this year’s editon unique by rewarding participating teams a lot of price money.
All the semi finalists will be given Tharmm Equest-branded shirts, while standout performers will be recognised with awards including Man of the Match, Tournament most Outstanding Player, Best Goalkeeper, and Best Coach/Manager.
The tournament coordinator, Olumide Ajayi confirmed that the tournament would kick off on 17, October, 2025 at Baruwa Ipaja, Lagos,
According to him a total of 16 teams would feature in this year’s edition designed to showcase grassroots football talent and provide young athletes with professional opportunities within the sports industry.
Ajayi who doubles as representative of Than Equest both in Africa and Nigeria thanked the sponsor and Jamaica for their contribution to the grassroots football development in Ipaja and promised to organise hitch free tournament.
“It’s an honour to have a prestigious UK company like Tharmm Equest acknowledge the importance of grassroots football and invest in these young athlete’s futures.This collaboration has the power to change lives and I congratulate the teams that would participate in this tournament because there are a lot of benefits in the tournament,”he said.
Meanwhile Trevor Walters, Tournament Director, echoed this sentiment, emphasising the tournament’s potential for growth.
“This year’s tournament will be bigger and better than ever before.We foresee teams from outside Nigeria participating in future editions, and we expect an influx of scouts searching for the next big national and club-level football stars,” he said.
Walters also revealed the introduction of the tournament’s first official mascot, a robotic bot named ‘IRIE’, symbolising peace, harmony, and positivity.
It was designed by Jamaican and Nigerian youths, IRIE will bring a fresh and engaging element to the event particularly for younger fans.
