Organisers Fix Boxing Day For Ubong King Memorial Cup Finals

Organisers have concluded plans to hold the finals of third edition U-15 boys and girls Ubong King Memorial football competition on 26 December 2023 at the legacy pitch of National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.

The competition whick kicked off some weeks ago is being sponsored by Protection Plus Services Limited and Ubong King Foundation.

To reach the final stage in boys category, Sirdona Football Club of Idimu defeated Ultimate FC of Surulere 2-1,while Young Talents also defeated Soccer City 5-3 on penalties after 2-2 at the regulation time.

In the girls category, Wazbak Queens pip Dominion Queens 1-0, while Flash Girls overcame Santos Girls 3-2 to book a place in the final.

Tournament cordinator, Taofeek Ajibola expressed readiness to host a befitting finals and urged the finalists to abide by the rules and regulations guiding the competition.

He however admonished the football fans to shun any social vices that can ruin the image of the competition saying that anybody found wanting during the finals would be sanctioned accordingly.

Ajibola explained that the tourney was orgainised in remembrance of late Dr Ubong Thompson King.

He revealed that prize money awaits the winners of both categories adding that outstanding players would also be rewarded for their efforts in the tournament.
