Super Eagles stars, Ola Aina and Taiwo Awoniyi helped their club Nottingham Forest reach the semifinals of the English FA Cup on Saturday, after their side beat Brighton 4-3 after penalties.
A goalless draw for Forest sent the game into penalties as the shootout was the third victory run they achieved this season.
For Ola Aina and Taiwo Awoniyi, reaching the semifinal is an additional effort which their club is making to keep a trophy hope alive, while they are third on the table and are four points adrift Arsenal who are second on the table.
On the other hand, it is a different story for the duo of Calvin Bassey and Alex Iwobi, whose side were beaten 3-0 at home to end their hope of reaching the semifinal of the FA Cup.
Meanwhile, Bassey and Iwobi’s sober moment started in the match when England international Eberechi Eze, of Nigeria’s descent opened the scoring in the 34th minute for Palace. Four minutes later he provided an assist to Senegal’s Ismaila Sarr who scored the second goal.
In the 75th minute, England international Eddie Nketiah of Ghanaian descent scored the third for the visitors to end Fulham’s hope of rising.
Fulham who are now are 8th position on the premier league table will be without hope of a trophy this season while Forest’s hope is alive.
