A Lagos based philanthropist, clergy and politician, Cardinal James Odunmbaku has expressed delight with the organisation and standard of play by the participating teams in the ongoing Odunmbaku Gold cup.
The competition is being sponsored by Cardinal James Odunmbaku, and tournament financier, Chief Iky Madu Obi.
Speaking on behalf of cup donor, the tournament cordinator,Prince Sulaiman Gbadamosi said the cup donor is higly impressed with the report he received from the organisers since the competition kicked off two weeks ago.
“Our cup donor is happy about the progress of the competition especially in the area of organisation and media coverage.He also commended the match officials who officiated all the matches for the job well done and promised to reward the finalists and outstanding players handsomely,”he said.
He however said the cup donor popularly known as Baba Eto implored all the teams to play according to the rules of the game saying that the competition is being sponsored to win souls for the Christ.
Speaking in the same vein, the finacier of the tournament, Chief Madu Obi also commended the organisers for their commitment since competition started and urged the remaining teams to shun vices that can affect the image of the tournament.
Meanwhile two quarter final matches in the female category would hold on Sunday at the Igando palace playground.
In the quarter final pairing released, SGH Sports face Wazbak Queens by 1:30pm, while Future Stars 99 Queens tackle Arising Stars Queens by 3:30pm.
The closing ceremony would hold on 4, November at the FIFA legacy pitch of national stadium, Surulere.
