NSF 2022: Team Lagos Lead, As Southwest Zonal Elimination Hits Final Day

 

Team Lagos are coasting home to get more tickets to participate in the coming National Sports Festival holding in Delta State as the state is dominating strongly in the ongoing Southwest Zonal Elimination Championship.

The championship, which sees all states in the southwest zone of the country competing to get slots to participate in team sports of the National Sports Festival will end today in Iwo township in Osun State.

Independent News Express understands that Lagos State team are in high spirits going into the last day of the Zonal elimination at the Lanreleke Sports Academy and Bowen University in Iwo.

In the Basketball event Lagos male team walloped Osun State 57-23 points and the female team beat their counterparts from Oyo State with 27 to 23 points.They dominated the pace right from the first quarter of the Game before rounding off at the fourth quarter with 27-22 points.

However, the Lagos handball male team showed class over Ekiti team by hammering them 54-25 before the elated fans at Lanreleke Sports Centre.

Handball Team Captain, Ahmed Dikko disclosed that, “It was a very easy match because we prepared very well”.

“We came here to qualify for the Festival proper in Delta state.We played strong and we are better for the next game” said Dikko.

He said their spirits are high,adding that they are not just playing as they set standard for others to follow.

Lagos Beach volleyball team defeated Team Ogun with 2-0 in a two straight sets, while the female Volleyball team took the advantage of their powerful shots from the strikers to win Oyo team by 2-1.

Two goals from Orji Chisom and Peter Okechukwu in the last quarter of the match put Lagos team forward to win against tough Osun team by 2-0.
