After a goalless draw against Nasarawa United last weekend, Niger Tornadoes shift their focus to Plateau United in a highly anticipated North Central derby on Sunday.
The match takes place in Jos, presenting another stiff challenge for Majin Mohammed’s side as they aim for a fantastic outing against their North Central rivals.
The match promises intense regional rivalry, with both teams seeking bragging rights. Plateau United inflicted a humiliating 3-2 defeat on Niger Tornadoes in Kaduna last season with the Ikon Allah Boys only managing to share the scores in the return leg as they held the peace boys to goalless draw in Jos.
The two sides are on same four points after two games. The hosts will pose a significant threat, having started the season strongly, while the Ikon Allah Boys will be seeking to replicate their opening-day victory at neighbours Kwara United in Ilorin.
Majin Mohammed charged his players to keep calm in front of goal, saying Plateau United are great side, anytime, anyday but they are beatable if we keep the right mentality.
Coach Majin Mohammed’s thoughts: “We’re prepared for the challenge. Our focus is on securing a positive result. Plateau United is a strong side, but we have a plan to contain them. We’re confident in our abilities and ready to give our best.”
The stage is set for an intense derby clash.
