Heartland FC secured an impressive 2-0 home win on Saturday to keep their hope of staying off the relegation zone alive.
21-year-old Samuel Agu scored in both halves of the game to give the Naze Millionaires a victory which happened to be their first win since February 16, 2025, when they defeated Shooting Stars by 2-1.
The Naze Millionaires have failed to win in their last seven NPFL games since after that win, they have lost four games and drew three since then, throwing away 18 precious points which would have helped put them on track if they had at least garnered half of the total.
This is also the first time Heartland will win and keep a clean sheet at home since February 2nd, 2025 when they beat Rivers United 2-0 at the Dan Anyiam stadium.
With this victory, they are now 16th on the table with 38 points and have temporarily moved out of the relegation zone with their situation depending on what Akwa United and Nasarawa United will get when they meet on Sunday.
Akwa United and Nasarawa United game is the star match to be broadcasted tomorrow on Radio Nigeria, since GTI secured a deal which now allows FRCN to broadcast the NPFL.
If either of the sides win, Heartland will slide down to the relegation zone, but a draw might keep them afloat until their next game when they will now decide if they will be condemned to the relegation zone or not.
The current situation of Heartland could be used as an assessment for Coach Emmanuel Amuneke whom was tipped by many to become the next Super Eagles coach.
Since he started his coaching career in 2008, Amuneke who was a classmate of Pep Guardiola when they both secured the UEFA Pro A License in Barcelona have only succeeded in winning the FIFA U17 World Cup in 2015.
Heartland fans and stakeholders are all waiting, they are hoping that this impressive win against Kano Pillars will continue in their remaining six premier league games, as this seems to be one hope of ensuring they do not go on relegation.
