Organisers of the just concluded 2025 Jagaban Cup have declared that there is no Plan or arrangement to take Jagaban Cup out of Lagos
This was submission of the convener of the Jagaban Cup, Olawale Liammed Gafar while chatting with journalists at the final of Jagaban Cup which held on Thursday morning at the FIFA legacy pitch of national stadium, Surulere.
SGH Athletics from Kwara defeated 36 Lion Football Club of Lagos 5-4 on penalties after barren draw at the regulation time to win the title for the first time.
Gafar who doubles as Chairman Of Lagos State Football Association LSFA expressed satisfaction with the standard of play by the participating teams saying that the Jagaban Cup has come to stay in Lagos.
“We are not planning or making any arrangement to take Jagaban Cup out of Lagos rather we would invite some teams from other states of the country to come and play in the tournament,”
Asked about sustainability of the competition,Gafar said that Jagaban Cup is an household name not only in Lagos but country at large noting that he would sustain the competition for years to come.
“This is tenth edition of the tournament and it has become a household name in Nigeria. It is a national scouting football tournament because we always invite clubs from other part of Nigeria for participation.
“The competition would sustain itself because I have what it takes to sustain it. Like I said earlier no plan or any arrangement to move the tournament out of Lagos because Lagos is a home of football in the country so let remain in Lagos for now,” he said.
