The Honourable Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musa Musawa Esq., has launched MyCityApp Nigeria, an integrated digital city platform designed to transform urban experiences, boost tourism, empower businesses, and connect citizens to government services, all in one place.
Speaking at the launch event held at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre on Thursday, the Minister explained that MyCityApp Nigeria allows users to discover verified businesses and premium experiences, access essential city services, stay updated on events and trending activities, navigate transportation and key locations, and engage with their city in a more connected and efficient way.
“In a time where everything is becoming digital, our cities must not be left behind. Tourism today is no longer just about destinations; it is about experience, accessibility, safety, and information at your fingertips,” Musawa stated. “MyCityApp Nigeria is the future — transforming smartphones into smart urban companions that help visitors explore, residents engage, and businesses thrive.”
The Minister highlighted the app’s alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes digital innovation, job creation, youth empowerment, and strengthening tourism, culture, and the creative economy.
“MyCityApp Nigeria promotes digital inclusion, strengthens civic engagement, enhances tourism, and creates opportunities for innovation-driven employment. It repositions Nigeria as a competitive global destination where information is accessible, services are coordinated, and experiences are seamless,” she added.
Musawa thanked the private sector partners for backing Nigerian innovation and government stakeholders for their collaboration and contribution to the Renewed Hope vision.
“Let us see this app as a digital infrastructure for urban transformation. The future of tourism is smart. The future of cities is connected. And under the Renewed Hope Agenda, the future of Nigeria is innovative, inclusive, and prosperous,” she said.
Earlier, Bukola Ajayi, the Manager of Architectural Engineering and Information Technology at MTN Nigeria, stated that MyCityApp was designed to create a unified data system for civic engagement, allowing citizens to connect with government services and report issues, even offline.
She said that the app will launch across Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, targeting five million registered users and 40 to 50 daily active users.
“Today marks a milestone toward smarter cities and better governance. Success will be measured not just by downloads, but by its impact on local businesses,” she said.
