The year 2024 Easter Pilgrimage has been preceded by a pre-visit retreat organised by the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC) to the Holy Lands of Israel and Jordan.
The previsit Lagos team, led by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, Mrs. Lolade Aina, also include the Board Secretary of the Lagos State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, Mrs. Yetunde Gbafe; the Special Adviser on Christian Religious Matters, Rev. Bukola Adeleke, Bishop (Prof) Rufus Oguntuase and other members of the Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board.
Since the Lagos State pilgrims are expected to visit various holy sites during the exercise, the delegates have embarked on the previsit retreat to demonstrate that the holy land is free for pilgrimage purposes.
A statement signed by the Board Secretary of LSCPWB, Mrs. Yetunde Gbafe said the previsit is crucial, adding it is important to have first hand information about the safety and security of the holy lands to reassure intending pilgrims of their well-being while on pilgrimage.
“The previsit is also aimed at making adequate arrangements for a hitch free yet spiritually regenerating pilgrimage exercise and also an opportunity to make adequate preparation for logistics with ground handlers and to secure comfortable hotels amongst others”, she added.
Gbafe further revealed that there are plans to explore Israel’s Agricultural Technologies that will enrich the Christian Pilgrimage Programmes and provide value for the Pilgrims.
The 2024 Easter Pilgrimage to Israel and Jordan has been scheduled to take place in June 2024.
