The Executive Vice Chairman and the CEO of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Dr. Aminu Maida, has been lined up to speak at the inaugural meeting of the Africa Chapter of the International Institute of Communications (IIC) holding on 29 January, 2026.
Independent News Express reports that the inaugural meeting of the IIC will be a virtual event and will convene regulators, policymakers, industry experts and other key stakeholders to deliberate on Africa’s rapidly evolving cybersecurity landscape and pathways for strengthening cyber resilience across the continent.
The meeting has been scheduled to run from 09:00 to 10:30 GMT, 10:00 to 11:30 West Africa Time and 11:00 to 12:30 Central Africa Time, and it will focus on building effective cybersecurity frameworks, developing coherent regulatory and policy approaches, and promoting cross-sector and cross-border collaboration to address emerging digital threats. The forum is expected to provide a platform for robust dialogue on safeguarding Africa’s digital ecosystem amid increasing connectivity.
Dr. Maida, who is also a member of the IIC Board, will join a distinguished panel of speakers to share insights on digital policy, regulation and cyber resilience, drawing from Nigeria’s regulatory experience and broader continental perspectives. His participation underscores the NCC’s growing role in shaping conversations around digital security and policy development in Africa.

The event forms part of the IIC’s wider commitment to advancing dialogue on connectivity, digital policy and regulation across Africa.
Other lined up speakers include Abdul-Hakeem Ajijola (AhA), Bill Woodcock, Lynn Robinson, Rita Maduo Badumeleng, and Tebogo Mmoshe.
