NCC Celebrates World Telecommunications and Information Society Day

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) celebrates the 2024 World Telecommunications and Information Society Day with the Nigerian consumers and stakeholders in the industry.

The World Telecommunication and Information Society Day is an international day proclaimed in November 2006 by the International Telecommunication Union Plenipotentiary Conference in Antalya, Turkey, to be celebrated annually on 17 May

World Information Society Day was an international day proclaimed by a United Nations General Assembly resolution, following the 2005 World Summit on the Information Society in Tunis.

The NCC says on its Facebook handle that “the Management and Staff of NCC celebrates and wishes a Happy World Telecommunications and Information Society Day to all consumers and stakeholders.

“This occasion also highlights one of NCC’s Strategic Focus Areas: “Bridging the Urban-Rural Digital Divide” which is a major goal in global telecommunications. The whole world needs digital innovation. Together we can make it happen.”

The theme of this year’s World Telecommunication and Information Society Day is “Digital Innovation for Sustainable Development.”
