NCC Director Maida encourages mobile users to use infrastructure and technology
Executive Chairman and CEO of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Aminu Maida, has called on Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) to prioritize infrastructure sharing and adopt new technologies to improve service delivery while reducing operational costs.
At the recent West Africa Business Conference and Exhibition held in Lagos, Dr. Maida emphasized the importance of infrastructure sharing in overcoming operational challenges and promoting growth and innovation in the telecommunications sector in Nigeria.
Emphasizing the benefits of shared infrastructure (IS), Dr. Maida demonstrated how it reduces unnecessary duplication of infrastructure, reduces costs and supports cost-effective policies, ultimately benefiting all telecommunications stakeholders.

Dr. Maida also emphasized that the telecommunications industry must use new technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) to improve networks, predict maintenance needs and improve customer service.
Additionally, the Commission emphasized the importance of developing “smart infrastructure” to support applications such as traffic management and public safety solutions, highlighted Nigeria’s role in technological development through 5G technology, and anticipated the 6G revolution.
