Nationwide Protests: Organisers Postpone Emeka Anyaoku Tourney Till 17th August

The ongoing 16th edition of Inter States Emeka Anyaoku U-16 football tournament has been postponed due to the ongoing nationwide protests across the country.

The tournament would resume on Saturday 17th of August, 2024 across six geo political zones.

The tournament, which kicked off last week across six geopolitical zones, is organised by National Youth Soccer Association, NYSA.

NYSA publicity secretary, Ifeanyi Chukwudi in his statement stated that the postponement is very necessary for all the participating teams and restart in the next two weeks.

“We have informed our participating clubs to know that all matches are hereby postponed due to the ongoing nationwide protests across the country. After thorough deliberations with zonal cordinators, we are resolved and agreed to restart on 17th, August 2024 across various zones.

“We postponed some matches now because of the ongoing nationwide protest in the country, and we want our players and coaches to keep safe at this moment before we resume on said date”he said.

Chukwudi urged the participants to be patient saying that the competition would continue as sheduled and regretted any inconveniences the postponement might cause them.

He disclosed that the ongoing tournament has received the support of former secretary general of Commonwealth Nations, Chief Emeka Anyaoku.

He however said the cup donor has a passion for youths and football development which informed him to give his support for the competition annually.
