National Association of Proprietors and Proprietresses of Private Schools, Lagos chapter (NAPPS) has thrown its weight to support the forthcoming Lagos Principal Cup Championship scheduled to kick off across the six education district centres in the state.
The Chairman of Lagos Principal Cup Commiittee led by Ajala Rasaq announced the return of the inter school football competition recently in Lagos.
Both public and private schools are expected to feature in this year’s edition.24 public schools would qualify from six education districts to the state preliminary playoff, while eight private schools would also emerge making 32 schools that would battle for honours at the state preliminary playoff.
The outgoing secretary general of NAPPS, Prince Yusuf Lukman Alaka told our correspondent in Lagos that the body is happy to see the inter schools football competition back in Lagos and urged the organisers to put necessary in place to make this year’s edition a hitch free tournament.
Alaka explained further that the inclusion of private schools to the tournament is a welcome development saying that the Lagos Principal Cup Championship would bring the best out of his students in the private schools.
“Let me commend the chairman commiittee of Lagos State Principal Cup, Honourable Ajala and others members for their commitment to bring this Lagos principal cup back.We the members of NAPPS are delighted that private schools would involve in the tournament.
“Of course, we are going to engage our schools to involve. We have more than 7,000 private schools in the state, and we have our sport officers in all the local government councils and zonal level. We are going to carry them along and ensure that we present a formidable private school that would compete with public schools at the state play off,” he said.
