N5 Million Up For Grabs At Adebutu Cup, 96 Teams Set For Action In Lagos

Organisers have announced the sum of N5 milion naira for the winners of the 14th edition of Kesington Adebutu Cup football tournament for U-20 Boys and Girls scheduled to kick off on Sunday 31st March, 2024.

Three venues have been selected for the tournament namely Obalende playground, Lagos Island, Jalisco playground, Oshodi and Lekki playground, Lekki.

Match cordinator, Rev. S. O. Omolola confirmed that arrangements have been concluded to commnce the competition on Sunday saying that the winners would go home with the sum of N1million naira with a giant trophy, while the first runner up would receive N750,000 as third and fourth would pocket N500,000 and N250,000 respectively in both categories.

The opening match will be played on Sunday between Dandadi Ace of Yaba and Puma FC of Ojo at Lekki playground.

Latoyam FC of Coker Aguda will trade tackle with Fagbems Babes Ikeja, while Dophin United of Obalende will settle scores with Alaba Babes of Alaba.

Action resumes Saturday 6 April when Alaro Babes, Epe will face Oluyole FC from Ayobo-Ipaja. Apapa Babes will play host to Ikosi Babes of Ketu.

In other matches for that Saturday, Yinka Babes, Badagry will play against St. Michael, Alimosho, while Barca FC from Lagos Mainland will go to war against B. Unit FC of Surulere.

Head of media commiittee, Yomi Olaniyi said all matches would be played on weekends to allow the players to face their studies and enjoined all the participating teams to exhibit the sprit of fair play and high degree of sportsmanship on the field of play.

He, however, thanked the the founder of the foundation, Sir Kesington Adebutu for his commitment to youths and sports development in the state.

He further said the cup donor has been contributing his own quota to football development in the State and the country at large, and urgeda other sports philanthropists to follow suit.
