Tunisia started their campaign in the ongoing West Africa Regional Baseball5 Championship with an outstanding performance against their opponents Benin Republic in a game which saw the North Africans win 2-0 (26-0, 20-2).
The match between Tunisia and Benin Republic which was the second game of the championship at the NIS Sports Complex Gymnasium started at exactly 12:00 WAT and the North Africans who performed the task easily had an impressive 26 runs to suffocate the West Africans in the first set of the game end at 12:40 when the first set ended.
While the Tunisia players comported themselves and ensured they were in control of the game at any point, there was so much blame-game seen among the players of the West African side who allowed mistakes to create more tension amongst them while game was on.
The second set of the game which started at 12:53 however gave the West African side an opportunity to make 2 runs and at least give themselves an opportunity to rejoice in their opener, but Tunisia’s impressive 20 runs in the second set dashed their hopes of surviving making the second set to end in 20-2.
Tunisia’s classical finish in the first and second sets respectively ended any hope of a third set and puts the North Africans on top of the table at the end of the first day of the tournament.
Tunisia have recorded 26-0, 20-2 in their first game against Benin Republic, which is more than Ghana’s 9-1, 11-1 victory over Nigeria in the first game of the tournament.
