Ward H football team have qualified for the final of the ongoing Mainland Unity Cup taking place at the Evans Square Sport Center and Ojoniyu Sport centre, Mainland,Lagos.
The competition is organised by Hon Adekunle Adebanjo who is committed to the football development in the Mainland.
Only footballers who are aboved 40 years old are eligible to take part in the competition comprises of nine wards in Mainland local government of Lagos.
Ward H football team who are drawn in group B along with three wards in the Mainland have won all their matches and top the group to reach the final stage.
Ward H played three matches to garner maximum of nine points.With this unbeaten run, Ward H may likely play overall winners of Ward C,D and B in group A in the final.
The winners in group A is yet to be decided as Ward C,D and B are fighting for group winners.Their last group matches would be played on weekends at the Ojoniyu Sport centre to decide who top the group.
The overall winner in each group would play in the final comes 27, December, 2024 at the Ojoniyu Sport centre.
Chairman Organising Committee, Adekunle Adebanjo said the tournament has reunited many of the yesteryears players together in Mainland.
“This is unique tournament because we designed it purposely for footballers who are aboved 40 years old.Aside this, only the footballers who reside in Mainland are eligible to play in the tournament,”he said.
He however urged the teams particularly in Group A to play according to the rules saying that any ward football team forment trouble during and after the game would be sanctioned accordingly.
