Technical Director of third edition of Edo State/Princess Mabel Madojiemu U-15 All Secondary Schools Athletics Championship, Mutiu Oluwa has revealed that the organisers are impressed with the number of entries registered for the two days tourney scheduled for 25 – 26 April at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin, Edo State.
Oluwa expressed gratitude to the sponsor, Princess Mabel Madojiemu for her unwavering support and finacial commitment to the tournament noting that the organisers are shocked, excited and impressed with the number of schools and elites that showed interest in the tournament.
“Presently we cannot accommodate more than 40 schools and we have told them to come with their 20 athletes.Let me say that we received more than enough schools within Edo in the last few weeks but due to distances and other logistics that we cannot provide, we tried to register 40 schools that are within Benin and environs and asked them to come with their 20 athletes with their officials.
“These are the athletes we can cater for throughout the championship and secondly in the area of elite athletes, we have seen entries from Delta, Anambra and Kaduna and of course the host state.I must confess that the tourney has received much high level of awareness and i commend our media partners and the organising committee for the job well done,”he said.
In her own remark, sponsor, Princess Madojiemu commended the efforts of the organisers, Edo State Athletic Association and State Sports Commission for their support to make the championship a talk of the town in the state and other part of Nigeria.
She said this year’s edition would be better organised and wished all the participants all thr best in their outings.
