The Lions Clubs International, District 404 B2, on Friday, 15th September, 2023, made delivery of Ophthalmic Equipment to the Ophthalmology Department of theLagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH).
The Lions Club International, whose vision is to improve health and well-being, strengthen communities and support those in need through humanitarian services and grants that impact lives globally and encourage peace and international understanding; has again fulfilled its mandate as it delivered a high range of Ophthalmic Equipment to LASUTH.
In his address, the District Governor, Aare Lekan Owolabi said, the event is a fulfilment of a part of the Club’s promise that was made when he accepted to become the District Governor of District 404B2. He said, “our core project is rebranding, restructuring and equipping the Eye Institute of LASUTH, and today we have come to fulfill that mandate.”
The Chief Medical Director, Prof. Adetokunbo O. Fabamwo, while receiving the the equipment alongside the Management of the hospital and the leadership of the Ophthalmology Department, acknowledged the undeniable philanthropic gestures of the International Lions Club to LASUTH.
Prof. Fabamwo praised the relentless effort of the current and past leadership of the club for deliberately choosing different Units and Departments within the hospital for upgrade.
He said the contribitions have immensely steered the hospital in its mission to becoming a quaternary medical institution of repute. The CMD promised to inscribe the Club’s name in the minds of all by including it on the hospital’s honors’ roll.
Prof. Bola Adekoya, the Head of Ophthalmology Department, lauded the kind gesture and promised that all donated equipment would be used judiciously for the teeming population of patients that the department caters for on a daily basis.
The equipment donated include, Operating Microscope, Ophtalmoscope, Occuloplastic Set, Slit Lamp, RF Caultry, Hot Air Oven, Surgeon Stool with Back Rest, Surgical Table, and Split 1.5HP AC Inverters.
