Organisers of the 19th edition of Lagos Supremacy Cup have expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the media and other stakeholders who contributed one way or other to make this year’s edition a huge success.
The Lagos Supremacy Cup was won by Beyond Limits after defeating defending Champions, Dino Football Club 5-4 on penalty shootout following one goal apiece at the regulation time.
The pulsating final held on Saturday morning at the Onikan Stadium.
Convener of the tournament, Hajj Olawale Liameed Gafar in his closing remark said the scouting football tournament would not have recorded huge success without the valuable contribution of the media and other football stakeholders who worked round the clock to ensure that the tourney lived up to expectations.
“I would also like to acknowledge the invaluable contribution of the media, the esteemed fourth estate led by Asiwaju Busari and Abayomi Galore.
“The Lagos Supremacy Cup truly met our expectations, bringing me great joy as young footballers displayed their skills.The tournament serves not only as a platform for scouting but also as a celebration of the beautiful game.
“May I express my gratitude to the club investors for permitting their players to participate in the 19th edition of the tournament. I hope our collective efforts yield fruitful results.
“I also want to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Adedotun Coker, Keye Onadeko, Dele Gbajumo, Wale Joseph, Richard Opanuga, David Dosu, Musbau Oseni, Adeleke Ibiyemi, AbdulRahman Abolore, Akeem Okikioposu and Billy Alaka along with other local organizing committee members for their hard work.
“Cem Sagar, the coordinator for the foreign scouts, ensured that the top 14 players were chosen during the four-day event and I am immensely grateful to him and the scouts for their dedication,”he said
Gafar noted that Beyond Limits Football Academy made a remarkable debut in the tournament, clinching victory on their first attempt.
He also praised Dino SC for putting up a commendable effort to defend their title but noted that the best team emerged as Champions.
The chairman of Lagos State Football Association LSFA revealed that Lagos Supremacy Cup has consistently served as a platform for emerging talents, and he is confident that the 14 players selected will excel when they join clubs overseas.
“I extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of this competition.Thank you all,”he concluded.
