Lagos Supremacy Cup: Beyond Limits Are New Champions, Defeat Dino In Saturday’s Final

Debutants, Beyond Limits Saturday morning defeated defending Champions, Dino Football Club 5-4 on penalty shootout after one goal apiece in full time at the just concluded 19th edition of Lagos Supremacy Cup held at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena popularly known as Onikan Stadium.

Daniel Ariehri gave Beyond Limits a lead slotting the ball pass goalkeeper in the 27th minutes.

Before the goal was scored , Dino were rewarded penalty kick which was missed. Another penalty kick was awarded to Dino and was quickly converted by Ikechukwu Friday in the 39th minutes to end the game 1-1 at the regulation time.

Dino Coach, Godwin Gibson said he was not disappointed with the outcome of the match and commended his boys for their impressive performance.

“We had a good tournament and my boys really showed that they were defending Champions from all the matches they played so far. We gave everything to win Beyond Limits unfortunately we lost to a better side,” he said.

Beyond Limits Coach, Joseph Olumide said the most important things is to expose the players to the new environment and give them the platform to showcase their talents.

He, however, commended his boys for their commitment and dedication to the competition saying that the scouting football tournament has brought the best out of his players.

Speaking with our correspondent,Convener of the tournament, Hajj Olawale Liameed Gafar expressed gratitude to God for the success of the competition noted that this year’s edition has recorded huge success.

He described the organisation of the tournament superb and praised the match officials for the job well done.

One of the foreign football scouts, Daniel Smejkal was impressed with the quality of players discovered in the tournament noting that players selected would be invited to Czech Republic for trials.

Meanwhile, Charlesann FC also defeated 36 Lion FC 6-5 on penalty shootout after 2-2 in full time in the third place match played earlier before the final.
