Lawmaker representing Ikorodu Constituency II in Lagos House of Assembly, Honourable Aro Moshood Abiodun, has thrown his support to the ongoing U-16 Star Youth Football League taking place across three centres in the Ikorodu.
This was disclosed by the one of the executive director of youth league, Sharafdee Kehinde Adeyemi when they paid the courtesy visit to the lawmaker recently in Ikorodu.
He explained that during their meeting with the lawmaker,he promised to support the league and announced prize money for the first and second position in each group at the end of the league.
“The league management board recently met with Honourable Aro Moshood Abiodun and he was glad to assist us.He told us that he would give the sum of N100,000 for the group winners and N50,000 for the second position in each group.This is one promise out of many and we are happy that the league has received blessing from the support of the government,”he said.
Adeyemi said the lawmaker who doubles as sponsor also promised financial support for the outstanding players and urged the participating teams to play according to the rules and regulations.
The Star Youth league kicked off last week.Four groups were created and the best two in each group would qualify for the super eight where overall winners would emerge.
Action resumes on Sunday at the Imota Secondary School Ikorodu while BTL face Simario FC by 2pm as Golden FA tackle Kareem FA by 4pm.
In Zumuratu Islamiyah School, Igbogbo,Paparazzi battle Infinite Academy by 12pm, while Adoch FA face Perfect Touch by 2pm as Kadesh FA confront Hadel FA by 4pm.
