Head coach of First Bank Football Club, Mohammed Gafari has reacted after his team walkovered Real Sapphire Football Club in the opening match of Lagos FA pre season tournament which kicked off early today.
The Lagos pre-season finally kicked off this morning at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena formally known as Onikan Stadium.
First Bank were on ground unfortunately their opponents failed to show off. First Bank won the match and garnered three points for their opening match.
Gafari told our correspondent that he was not happy for the walkover, saying that he wanted to use the first game to test his new players who were recruited recently.
“I am not happy for not playing our opponents because I have planned the first game to test my players and assess their fitness level. By and large, getting three points is equally good for us so that we can target victory in our next game,” he said.
According to the Lagos FA, a total of 16 teams from NLO and NNL teams based in Lagos are expected to participate in the pre-season tournament organised by Lagos State Football Association LSFA.
In other matches slated for Monday, Tradesafe FC tackle AS Racine by 8:20am, Smart City battle Okaka FC by 9:40am, Ikorodu City confront Spartan FC by 11:00am, while Lekki United also battle Broad City by 12:20pm.
In other matches, Emmydinho will face BYT by 1:40pm, TCCG and Dannaz FC slug it out by 3:00pm, while Magic Stars tackle Buruj by 4:20pm.
