Chairman of Chekas United Football Club of Badagry, Chekwube Uzoegbo has admonished his players not to disappoint their fans when they confront winners between Unification Boys and AYICRIP NELIS FA in the round of 36 of Lagos State Challenge Cup known as Lagos FA Cup.
The match would hold on Thursday morning by 11:am at Inspire Stadium,Oshodi, Lagos.
In a statement issued this morning,the club boss urged the players and coaching crew to remain focused and ensure that their first outing in Lagos FA records success.
He admitted that Lagos FA Cup is always tough for the teams but noted that his boys cannot afford to disappoint their teeming fans who would storm the stadium to support them.
“I title my press release ‘Don’t disappoint Our Fans”Our first match in this year’s Lagos FA Cup is coming up on Thursday and the boys cannot afford to lose their game knowing full well that Lagos FA Cup is a knockout format.I expect the boys to go for victory against their opponents and anything short of that it won’t be acceptable,”the statement reads.
Uzoegbo also stated that the players have been preparing for this tournament in the last few months and their wellbeing is taken care as part of management support to ensure that the players and coaching crew are in good frame of mind ahead of their first match.
In his statement,he commended the organisers of Lagos FA Cup for good organisation and officiating and praised the Lagos FA under the leadership of Liammed Gafar by ensuring that this year’s Lagos FA Cup is being sponsored.
In other matches scheduled for Friday at Inspire Stadium, Hephzibah Sports Club face Ikorodu City FA by noon as winners between Ikonnect FA and Ona Ara FA take on Diadem Stallion by 2pm,while FC Middlewell battle Klassisch FA by 10am at the Maracana Stadium,Ajegunle.
Meanwhile the winners in round of 36 would qualify for the round of 32 to join already 14 seeded teams.The round of 36 would be concluded on Saturday as five matches would hold in both centres.
