A Lagos based travelled team, Prince Kazeem Eletu Football Club have begun serious preparation ahead of the forthcoming Lagos City Cup.
The four days scouting football competition is organised by Ikorodu City Football Club in partnership with FC Barcelona and Athletic Saint Just FC.
Eletu will begin their opening match against Middlewell FC before facing Dominion Hotspurs on July 1 at the Onikan Stadium, Lagos Island.
Team manager of Prince Kazeem Eletu FC, Eletu Muftau popularly known as Junior said the calibre of teams involved and the people behind the tournament necessitated the club boss, Prince Kazeem Eletu to show interest in the tournament.
“Honestly, we are not used to play competition or scouting football competitions in Lagos or outside the state but this particular Lagos City Cup attracts the club chairman and when we look at the calibre of teams invited for the tournament and the people that are behind it, we are interested and our chairman is looking forward to the much anticipated competition,”he said
Mufau also said the competition would give his boys new challenges and also bring the toughness in them saying that they are coming to the tournament for the development of the players not to win the cup.
“We are not saying we want to win the cup but the most important things is to see our players to showcase what the coaching crew led by french coach, Bilal Sousdi taught them in the training to put them in presently we have commenced serious preparation ahead of the tournament.
“Although we are not totally ruling out of winning the tournament but like i said earlier our focus is to develop, expose,mentor and nurture these players to stardom.Our preparation is in top gear and we are looking forward to our opening match comesJuly 1 at Onikan Stadium,”he said.
Meanwhile a total of 16 teams are taking part in the competition.Group A comprises of Box 2 Box, Dominion Hotspurs, Prince Kazeem Eletu FC and FC Middlewell.
Group B are Baraka FC, Ikorodu City FC, Collins Edwin and G12, Group C are made up of Dannaz FC, Joy Cometh, Future Pro and Lekki United, while Group D involved 36 Lion, KIFA FC, Smart City and FC Bathel.
