New undefeated African champion, Omole Dolapo, has secured a ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics Games boxing event, after a successful outing at the African qualifiers in Dakar, Senegal.
Dolapo defeated Leta Fekremeriyam Yadesa of Ethiopia in the final of the 57kg men’s category winning 5-0 in a unanimous decision. His dominance began in round one of his first bout where he knocked out Kanu Abu from Sierra Leone.
He won his bout against a Ghanaian Omar Abdul Wahib to progress to the quarterfinals where he also dealt with Ndevelo from Namibia in round one of the contests.
In the semi-finals, the Lagos pugilist finished his Cameroonian foe Sangue Alain Christian in round two before landing a final victory over Fekremeriyam to claim the slot in lightweight division.
Meanwhile, Oyesiji Adeola and Ojo Joy lost their bouts in the semi-finals to Algerian 2020 Olympian Boulam Roumaysa and Congolese Sakobi Matshu respectively.
