It’s a day of glory for Kenyan Edwin Kibet Koech who came second in the 2022 Access Bank Lagos City Marathon, as he weathered all storm to brace the tape to win the Gold-label Access Bank Lagos City Marathon on Saturday.
Koech made it in 2:14:06 to beat Dekeba Shefa of Ethiopia and Kenya’s Bernard Sang to second and third position in 2:14:54 and 2:17:14 respectively.
However, the women race was won by Ethiopian Guta Alemenesh Herpha who narrowly edged Urisa Kebene Chala in 2:40:42 while Chala settled for the second position in .2:40:44.
Herpha won the 2018 edition.
Kenyan Naomi Maiyo, repeating her 2022 result placing third in 2:40:56.
it another first finish in the women’s category of the race, repeating her 2018 feat by winning the race in 2:40:42 with her compatriot, Urisa Kebene Chala taking the second position in while another Kenyan runner, Naomi Maiyo, repeating her 2022 result placing third in 2:40:56.
In the Nigerian category race was won by Gyang Boyi Nyango with Adamu Shehu Muazu and Friday Yohanna finishing in second and third position respectively.
Finishing in the 10th position, Deborah Pam was the first Nigeria female to finish the race. Elizabeth Nuhu and Dimatu Yahana ending the race in second and third positions.
