Kenya’s opposition leader Raila Odinga says no-one will be spared in an anti-corruption campaign he promises to implement if elected president in next month’s poll.

Mr Odinga is making a fifth and final attempt at the country’s top job.

The 77-year-old former prime minister told me that at his age, he doesn’t intend to vie again but he would still have much to do even if he isn’t elected.

“I’ve been out of active politics, but the African Union appointed me as the High representative on Infrastructure and it’s kept me very busy,” he said.

Should he win, Mr Odinga says he will focus on fighting corruption. Kenya’s president has said the country loses more than $16m (£13m) a day to corruption.

“No-one is indispensable. If I’m found to be corrupt, they should deal with me,” he said, citing the South Korean example where President Park Geun-hye was impeached and jailed for nearly five years for corruption.

On the economy, Mr Odinga says he will introduce austerity measures and seek to reschedule foreign debt to ensure the country does not default on repayment.
