Jagaban Cup: Champions, Smart City Stumble As 36 Lion, Dino Record Wins

Defending Champions, Smart City Football Club began their title defence on a shaky note following 2-2 draw played against The Charlesann FC in the Jagaban Cup which kicked off early today at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena popularly known as Onikan Stadium.

Busayo opened the goal scoring for the NNL side to make the game interesting for the fans who came to watch Jagaban Cup.

The Charlesann began to search for the equaliser as the players effort was paid off when Ayinla Olayinka got the equaliser to end the half time one goal apiece.

Both teams gave a good account of themselves as the second half witnessed full of skills and tactical display by both side.

Abatan Ayodele took a shot at the long range to give The Charlesann their second goal.The defending champions quickly responded by scoring the equaliser to end the game 2-2 draw.

In other results, 36 Lion defeated Imperial 2-1, Mavlon played 0-0 with Ikorodu City, while Dino beat Broad City 2-1.

Action resumes on Wednesday as Ikorodu City face Smart City by 7am, Broad City tackle 36 Lion by 8am, The Charlesann confront Mavlon FC by 9am, while Imperial FC and Dino FC clash by 10am at the Onikan Stadium.
