As the world marks the 2024 International Women’s Day on Friday 8 March, the Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Dr. Aminu Maida, has reiterated the need for a special focus on women in Nigerian society.
Speaking during the Commission’s commemoration of this year’s International Women’s Day at the NCC Headquarters, Abuja, Dr. Maida said the Nigerian Communications Commission is happy to celebrate the wonderful and commendable strides of women in all spheres of life, adding that “at NCC, we recognize the immense value that diversity brings to our workplace, and we are committed to fostering an environment where women are empowered and included.
“As we celebrate women today (Friday), we invite the government, corporate Nigeria, and the telecom and ICT industry, to join us in building and nurturing an ecosystem that promotes talent and skills for our female gender, while promoting equal opportunities for their growth and advancement.”
Independent News Express reports that the management at NCC has always taken cognisance of the role and importance of women in the workplace, hence the policy of non-discrimination in the allocation of roles and functions irrespective of gender, as competency has been the hallmark.
