The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) has hailed the appointment of its Executive Vice President Wahid Oshodi by the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) as the chairman of Ethics and Good Governance Commission.
Oshodi who is an ITTF Executive Committee member in charge of Communications & Protocol, Governance, and World Ranking was appointed in a letter signed by the President of NOC, Engr Habu Gummel based on his wealth of experience.
“It is my pleasure to inform you that the Executive Board of the Nigeria Olympic Committee has approved your appointment as the Chairman of the Ethics and Good Governance Commission.
“Your appointment is in recognition of your wealth of experience and outstanding contribution to Nigerian Sports as well as the Olympic Movement. It is therefore hoped that you would bring to bear your expertise and experience in achieving the goals of your Commission and the NOC in general,” Gummel said.
However, the ITTF through its President Petra Sorling acknowledged the immense contribution of Oshodi to ITTF since his election in 2021.
“Certainly, this appointment comes to recognise your wealth of experience and outstanding contribution to Nigerian Sports and the international table tennis community. This also reaffirms the decision we took in early 2022 to assign you with the Governance portfolio within the ITTF Executive Board,” in a statement signed by Sorling.
Also, a member of the ITTF Board of Director (BoD), and a former Secretary General of NOC, Olabanji Oladapo was appointed as the Chairman, Liaison Commission.
Oshodi who is also the Deputy President of ITTF Africa has described the appointment as an avenue for more work and responsibilities.
