The National Chairman of the Nigeria Football Supporters Club (NFSC), Rev. (Amb) Samuel Ikpea has advised the Super Eagles of Nigeria to remain focused and put any form of celebration aside ahead of their next World Cup game against South Africa.
Ikpea who led the foremost Supporters Club in the country to Uyo for the crucial World Cup match against Rwanda where the boys defeated the Amavubi by a lone goal to keep their World Cup qualification alive disclosed this after the game.
“This victory is key, and it has kept our hope of qualifying alive, but the boys must not celebrate yet” Ikpea started.
“The next match against South Africa in Bloemfontein is key, and the boys must concentrate and ensure they get that maximum three points to close the gap against South Africa who are seated on top of the group with 16 points”.
“We (NFSC) are pleased with this result, and we will always be there for the team and the best they can do for Nigeria now is to win their next game” Ikpea concluded.
The Super Eagles who recorded their first ever home win since this World Cup qualifier started have moved to third place on the table with ten points after their 1-0 win over Rwanda.
Despite being six points behind South Africa after their win against Rwanda, the Super Eagles who have had an unimpressive start in their World Cup qualification are now bent on turning things around.
The Super Eagles will face South Africa on Tuesday September 9, by 5pm at the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein, South Africa to determine who will pick the group’s sole automatic ticket to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
