Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has commended Alaro City, the transformative new urban development in West Africa, for injecting over $1 billion into Lagos’ economy and accelerating industrialisation.
Governor Sanwo-Olu gave the commendation during his recent tour of the City, being developed by Rendeavour, in partnership with Lagos State Government and other stakeholders.
Accompanied by the Honourable Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade, and Investment, CCTI, Folashade Ambrose, and other top government officials, which include the Head of Service, Mr Olabode Agoro and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, MCCTI, Dr. Olugbemiga Aina, Sanwo-Olu explored Alaro City’s thriving residential and industrial investments, while crediting President Bola Tinubu for pioneering the Lekki Free Zone, a foundation that continues to drive economic growth.
His word: “On behalf of Lagos State, I commend Alaro City for this phenomenal development. It is incredible to witness how vision, backed by resilience and execution, is bringing a city like this to life. It is particularly impressive to note the city’s impact, through attraction of 500 residential investors, 80 manufacturing companies, and created thousands of jobs since its inception six years ago, and for its huge potential to control urban expansion and global investment attraction.”
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to Lagos’ economic expansion, Sanwo-Olu confirmed plans for the Lekki International Airport, set to rise across the expressway from Alaro City, alongside the Green Line Metro project, which will connect Marina to Lekki Free Zone.
The Governor also visited the City’s major industrial players, including Ariel Foods, which produces therapeutic food for malnourished children; Starium, a detergent manufacturer owned by BUA Group; and TY Logistics Park, Nigeria’s first Grade A logistics facility. He also toured Universal One, the leading housing developer in Lekki Free Zone, inspecting newly completed two and three bedroom apartments.
Frank Mosier, Board Director of Rendeavour, praised the Free Zone scheme for its role in attracting investors. He “acknowledged the State’s roles in birthed various infrastructure projects such as the Lekki Deep Sea Port and the upgraded Lekki-Epe Expressway, positioning Alaro City as a strategic business hub.”
Alaro City’s world-class infrastructure—an eight-lane Alaro Boulevard, a scalable 120MW Independent Power Plant, fiber-optic connectivity, and a mixed-use master plan—continues to draw both local and international businesses eager to benefit from Nigeria’s pro-business policies.
