Organisers of the JOF U-13 football tournament on Thursday have announced the sum of N1.4 million that would be shared among four teams that will play third and final matches on June 11 at the Campos Mini Stadium, Lagos.
The third-place match would be played by Ojo Babes against Kudus Babes of Epe which holds 1pm, while Samadek Boys from Orile would tackle Wazbak Babes of Mainland in the final match which kicks off 3pm.
Addressing Journalists in Lagos, the Director of Strategic Support Services JOF Nigeria Limited, Adeyinka Adetunji disclosed that the winners would go home with the sum of N500,000 with a giant trophy, while the runners up would pocket N400,000, as third and fourth position would receive N300,000 and N200,000 respectively.
He said the prize money is part of the company’s commitment to ensure that the teams give their best, even as he urged them to desist from any vices that can bring the tourney into disrepute.
“We are sponsoring this tournament to promote the development of football at the grassroots and to help discover young talents in Lagos State. We also believe that through sporting activities, our youth can be positively engaged.
“JOF Nigeria Limited is a wholly indigenous Nigerian company, therefore, we would like to continue to encourage, support and showcase this kind of constructive youth engagements in our country. We would continue to sponsor football development in the state and i wish all the teams all the best,” Adetunji said.
Reacting to the sponsor’s kind gesture, the secretary general of Lagos State Grassroots Soccer Association, Ganiu Aliu thanked the sponsor for coming out with gallant strides like a stallion among other corporate bodies at sponsoring this prestigious event as part of its social responsibility in a very unique manner every year.
