Organisers of the IKOBA School Games have expressed their readiness to host closing ceremony of IKOBA School Games which holds on Wednesday at the Folawiyo High School football playground, Ikoyi, Lagos.
In the semi final matches played recently in girl’s category, Wahab Folawiyo High School defeated Government Girls College, Maroko 1-0, while Davidhall International College humbled Government Girls College,Ikoyi 4-0 to reach the final stage.
In the boys category, Government Senior Secondary School College, Victoria Island defeated Akande Dahunsi Senior High School 1-0, while Government College, Ikoyi suffered 0-5 to Davidhall International College in the second semi final.
The convener of the IKOBA School Games, Olayinka Shokoya told our correspondent that they are ready to host a befitting closing ceremony and urged the finalists to be a good ambassadors of their schools.
“We are looking forward to the final and we have invited important dignitaries such as lawmakers , political class, education district officers and other football stakeholders in Ikoyi- Obalende axis for the finals and they promised to be in attendance,”he said.
Shokoya who doubles as Leader of Ikoyi-Obalende Football Coaches Council said they have put all the necessary things in place to host the final and thanked their sponsors and partners for their contribution to the success of the two weeks inter schools football tournament.
He however described this year’s edition well orgainsed and congratulated the finalists for the job well done.
“Despite the short notice, the participating schools showed their readiness for IKOBA School Games and i must commend the principals and game masters for releasing their students to participate in the competition.
“We are looking forward to the final on Wednesday and I believe that the best schools would emerge as champions,” he said.
