There was wild celebration among the fans and players of Bucknor Football Club of Alimosho after emerging as champions of Ikeja DFA Super 4 league.
Bucknor defeated Shuffle Select 3-1 Thursday evening at the Alade Sport Center, Ipaja Command, Alimosho, Lagos.
With this victory, Bucknor have seven points on the table to top Magboro FC who garnered six points from their three matches.
Bucknor defeated Magboro 1-0 in their opening match and played 1-1 with G Innovation in the second match before they hammered Shuffle Select in their last game.
Reacting to the Victory, Habeeb Abidemi expressed gratitude to God for the victory noted that the commitment and doggedness of the players earned them to emerge as champions of the league.
“It was a tough Super 4 for us and other teams. The winners were determined at the last match of the day.This is to tell you that all the four teams are good for the title. We won the league because the players were committed, disciplined and played to coach instructions which really helped us over other teams.
“Congratulations to the staff and management and of course our fans who are fully behind us. I cannot forget to thank Alimosho football coaches council for their support during our last game,he said.
Meanwhile Magboro Coach, Ganiu Abayomi Shobola congratulated Bucknor for their hard fought victory against Shuffle Select but expressed disappointment that his team lost the title after losing their opening match against Bucknor.
“We came to the super four with the mind of winning the title unfortunately we lost the battle in our first game.I must also commend my boys for their brilliant performance in their remaining matches.We are also happy because both Bucknor and Magboro would represent the division at the state league in the next season,”he said.
Commenting on the league, Chairman Ikeja Divisional Football Association IDFA, Evangelist Taiwo Alagbe commended the teams for their impressive performances but particularly congratulated Bucknor for their feat which was well deserved.
“I am happy that the league has ended on a good note.All the teams gave a good account off themselves but i must congratulate Bucknor for being a true champions of Ikeja DFA Super 4.I also commend the board members of Ikeja DFA and Ikeja Football Coaches Council and our match officials for their support throughout the league,”he said.
