Ikeja DFA Mourns Death Of Lagos-based Football Coach

The board of Ikeja Divisional Football Association, IDFA has expressed sorrow over the loss of his member, Elder Ogunnaike Oladayo who died on Thursday,19th,2025 after a brief illness.

In a statement signed by Secretary of Ikeja DFA, Alaba Olaniyi extended Ikeja DFA board members led by Rafiu Alagbe symphaties to the bereaved family and noted that the demise of Ogunnaike is a great loss to the division and football family in Lagos.

The statement reads “The Board of Ikeja Divisional Football Association regrets to announce the demise of Coach (Elder) Ogunnaike Oladayo. Until his death on Thursday 19th June,2025, Late Elder Oladayo Ogunnaike was a member,Technical Committee of Ikeja Divisional Football Association.

“As an icon of grassroot football and in recognition of his immense contribution to the development of football in Ikeja Division of Lagos State, the DFA has suspended all Week 5 matches of the 2024/2025 Ikeja DFA Super League scheduled between Monday 23rd – Saturday 28th June,2025.

“Further to this, a minute silence for the soul of the departed grassroot football icon shall be observed in all the remaining Week 4 matches. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace,”
