Heyfash Football Club based in Sango-Otta, Ogun State shamed the football pundits after defeating JMB in the CY Cup final held on Sunday at the Sam Ethan Airforce Base, Ikeja, Lagos.
Both teams ended the encounter in a stalemate, but Heyfash defeated its opponents 5-4 in a penalty shootout to emerge as Champions.
Speaking after the match Heyfash, coach, Akinlawon Akinola thanked their fans for the support given the team throughout the competition and dedicated the trophy to Chairman Heyfash Football Club, Chief Amos Fasanya and NFCA Ado- Odo Otta,Ogun State under the leadership of Coach Anigiobi Bankole and other executive members.
Heyfash came to the tournament as one of the weaker teams, considering the other teams with a football pedigree in Lagos.
Akinola told our correspondent that nobody gave them a chance to win the title but thanked goodness that his team proved bookmakers wrong.
Meanwhile, Emmanuel of Heyfash won the tournament as the Most Valuable Player (MVP).
54 teams participated in this year’s CY Cup while Heyfash Football Academy emerged as Champions.
In his congratulatory message, the Director of Heyfash, Fasanya described the victory as well deserved and commended the coaching crew and players for the job well done.
