The ongoing Henry Nwosu Cup going on at the Naze Secondary School has reached the semifinal stage with another disciplinary action now taken on Umuorie, one of the teams who reached the semifinal.
The central committee, Naze Football Federation (NFF) had received a protest letter alleging that Umuorie fielded ineligible players and went straight into action to investigate and discovered that Umuorie actually fielded three ineligible players who were not living in Naze.
Based on their findings, Umuorie who were supposed to finish top of their group were now stripped off their 3 points and the three ineligible players were also banned from continuing in the tournament.
This has left Umuorie team in a depleted manner ahead of their semifinal clash as their first choice goalkeeper was also affected by the decision.
Umuorie who are now expected to face Umuezuo in the second semifinal clash which comes up tomorrow will have to rely fully on indigenous players to prosecute their next match and this seems to have given their opponent an advantage ahead of their clash.
Meanwhile, Umuorie had also protested against Umuosu for use of ineligible players. The central committee swinged into action to see if Umuosu could become the third casualty to be hit by the NFF Axe, but investigations showed that Umuosu were not in anyway involved in anything that violated the rules of the game.
Umuosu who were absolved of the allegations leveled against them now go top of the group with their 3 points, and they will later today face Umuakali in the semifinal clash.
